Citizen was founded in 1924 and was given this name to mean "Close to the Hearts of People Everywhere." Soon after, the company changed its name to Citizen Watch Company.

World's Largest Watchmaker

Citizen has grown globally since and has now maintained the title of world's largest watchmaker since 1986 (now 2004). Along with being the biggest, they have continued to innovate technologically over the years, creating the world's first voice recognition watch as well as the world's slimmest watch.

Their newest collection, the Eco-Drive collection, shows that they continue to innovate as a world leader in watches. The Eco-Drive runs on any type of light and never requires a battery. How perfect is that? Now if only they could manufacture cars in the same way!

They have proven time and time again that they stand above the rest by giving the people what they want: a technically savvy watch at an affordable price. And this desire to please their public is undoubtably the biggest factor in their succes.
