Find the best gold jewelry online and read tips on shopping for gold
Gold jewelry is one of the rarest metals on Earth, it's attractive, and comes in a wide variety of shapes due to its malleability. Pure gold also doesn't tarnish and causes less allergies than other metals.
Our fine stores carry some of the highest quality jewelry on the market, in most any style you can imagine.
If you're shopping for gold, look at the stamp on the jewelry to find out how pure it is, usually it will say 24K, 18K, 14K, or 10K, "K" standing for "karat" (not to be confused with the carat of a diamond - which is a size measurement). These markings indicate the percentage of pure gold that the jewelry contains.
24K is pure gold.
18K is 18 parts gold and 6 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 75% gold.
14K is 14 parts gold and 10 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 58.3% gold.
12K is 12 parts gold and 12 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 50% gold.
10K is 10 parts gold and 14 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 41.7% gold. 10K is the minimum karat that can be called "gold" in the United States. In the U.S., "solid gold" is also a term to describe gold that is 10K or more.
Gold is often mixed with other netals, that malleability that make it easy for artisans to work with also makes it vulnerable to scratches and general wear. It is not recommended to wear pure gold as your daily wear for this reason, lower karat gold is better for general wear because of its durability.
