Hematite is believed to have healing properties, and thought to be particularly good for the blood. This might be because when a hemetite stone is crushed, it turns from black to dark red. Many people wear a simple jewelry item like a hematite bracelet for the aesthetic appeal of this shiny black stone and/or the healing properties hematite is thought to have.

Some tribal colonies believe that hematite is useful for treating blood-related illnesses such as hemophilia, anemia, heart, kidney and liver diseases, cardio-vascular weakness, menstrual cramps, and nose bleeds.

Mineral healers recommend it for use in treating the stress of jet lag, birth, surgery, tumors, insomnia, leg cramps, nervous disorders and fevers.

Native Americans used it as a remedy for dental problems, pimples, canker sores and alcohol abuse.

Crystal healers believe it brings peace of mind and calms anxiety, among other things. Have a look around at our carefully selected stores for a wide variety of jewelry, including hematite jewelry.

Looking for gift ideas? One of my favorites is giving dangly charm bracelets with a few charms that feature passions of the recipient. That leaves them with the choice of adding more, and with a lasting and personal gift.
