Hematite jewelry comes in a wide variety of styles and prices, at some places I've seen beautiful hand-carved animal jewelry for no more than a few dollars, and other places I've found artfully placed carved hematite into gold and silver jewelry. The stone varies as well, the metallic stone can widely vary in color, ranging from black to grey to brownish-red.

Hematite is not only an intriguing metallic stone that turns blood red when crushed, many believe it has certain effects on our well-being. Crystal healers believe it brings peace of mind and calms anxiety, among other things. Mineral healers recommend it for use in treating the stress of jet lag, birth, surgery, tumors, insomnia, leg cramps, nervous disorders and fevers.

Native Americans used it as a remedy for dental problems, pimples, canker sores and alcohol abuse. It has been found in many Native American tombs as well as in ancient Egyptian and Babylonian graves. The ancients also used it to stop the bleeding of wounds and to relieve eye problems.

Healing or not, the stone is experiencing a revival and is now featured in many fine jewelry stores, have a look around at our carefully selected stores for a wide variety of jewelry, including hematite jewelry.

Looking for gift ideas? One of my favorites is giving dangly charm bracelets with a few charms that feature passions of the recipient. That leaves them with the choice of adding more, and with a lasting and personal gift.
