Can simply wearing hematite rings bring physical and mental health?

The hematite stone has a long and enigmatic history, and over the ages has carried with it many claims that it has healing powers. Some get it for these believed healing benefits, some for aesthetics, some for both. Black and almost metallic looking in whole form and blood red when crushed, this intriguing stone is once again piquing the curiousity of on-lookers browsing jewelry shops.

One explanation of the hematite claims is its blood red streak, which probably gave way to its name which was derived from the Greek word for blood, "haima."

Crystal healers use it for blood related diseases, probably because of the long mythical history that stems back to when it was first named. But the Native Americans used it as well, as a remedy for dental problems, pimples, canker sores and alcohol abuse. It has been found in many Native American tombs as well as in ancient Egyptian and Babylonian graves. The ancients also used it to stop the bleeding of wounds and to relieve eye problems.

Crystal healers also use it for mental purposes, crediting Hematite with the ability to improve calmness, memory, mental focus and concentration, self-confidence, and logical processes.

Personally, I was wearing hematite before I'd ever heard about all of these claims, because it's an extremely unique and attractive stone - and that's still enough for me.

Looking for gift ideas? One of my favorites is giving dangly charm bracelets with a few charms that feature passions of the recipient. That leaves them with the choice of adding more, and with a lasting and personal gift.
